Mohammed Almubarak, MD

Interim Chief, WVU Section of Hematology/Oncology

Mohammed Almubarak, MD, has been a valuable team member of the West Virginia University Section of Hematology/Oncology Department since 2006, where he initially served as a fellow and chief fellow. Prior to that, he completed his residency with West Virginia University Internal Medicine from 2003 to 2006.

Dr. Almubarak earned his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and attended the Columbian College of Arts and Medicine Program.

His work has garnered awards such as the BRAVO award, placing him in the top three percentile of providers for inpatient care. He has also received recognition by the Department of Medicine chair for contributions made in areas aside from clinic productivity, research, and education. His research and clinical interests have been focused on many areas including cancer patient care and patient outcomes, and he has published 25 peer-reviewed journals related to a variety of cancer-related topics.

Dr. Almubarak is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), West Virginia Oncology Society (WVOS), and the American Medical Association (AMA), and has been serving on many departmental, university, and state committees.
